HRPT Day 4: Gulfport, MS to Baton Rouge, LA
Our last official day brought rain as we traveled to Baton Rouge. Waiting out the storm in the Kangaroo across the street from the Lamar Dixon Expo Center, we discovered a rather tasty hot dog bar. Not only that, but a full frozen yogurt bar with all sorts of toppings! Gas station food can be questionable, but this place was a pleasant surprise.
After the rain, we drove into the Expo Center and perused the rows in the steamy heat. Here are some of the highlights:
We hung around to watch some cars get dyno’d –
We really enjoyed meeting Larry and Lisa Whitehead of Buda, Texas. They are part of a great car club that meshes their passion for cars with philanthropic efforts for the youth of their community. More on them later, but here’s a peek at this wonderful couple with Lisa’s 1960 Parkwood wagon:
And their car club sticker on the Blasphemi!
Speaking of the Blasphemi – after days of missing them at the previous locations we finally caught up with the Roadkill guys and Blasphemi – their 700 horsepower Hemi 1955 Chevy Gasser.
